Church Planting

PROJECT 1:            CHURCH PLANTING AND VILLAGES OUTREACH MINISTRY SUMMARY

We desire to see churches established and implemented in the 5 states (Western Bahr-El-Ghazal, Northern Bahr-El-Ghazal, Warrap, Unity, and Upper Nile) of South Sudan that border the Republic of Sudan.

Evangelism 1Since colonization of the Sudan and the south ward expansion of Arabization in the Sudan after independence, these states had limited gospel outreaches and hence low number of Christians. In each of the 41 counties found in these 5 states, there are less than 3000 Christians. African Onesimus Mission for South Sudan is to carryout grassroots evangelistic and gospel revival outreaches in each of these counties and plant at least one church in each of one of them. The blessing of this ministry will be measured by the number of souls that will be won to accept Jesus Christ. The success of the ministry will also be measured by the number of churches it will plant in each of the 41 counties.

Objective 1:

To carry out grassroots evangelistic and gospel revival outreaches in villages throughout the 41 counties of the 5 states of the Republic of South Sudan that border the Republic of Sudan. Activities:

  • Meeting with village chiefs and elders to win their support for gospel evangelism and revival in their villages
  • Holding open air gospel outreaches in local markets
  • Visiting village households, families, and public gatherings to speak about the Words of God
  • Distributing free copies of the Bible in local languages, if versions exists

Objective 2:

To plant at least one church in each of the 41 counties of the 5 states of the Republic of South Sudan that border the Republic of Sudan Activities:

  • Establishing local Christian Ambassadors of Christ and Bible study groups to advance the knowledge and understanding of the new believers in the Words of God.
  • Identifying and acquiring one convenient location to serve as a temporary house of God where the new believers come together on Sundays to worship their God.
  • Identifying potential local believers to oversee the new churches and mentoring them accordingly with the necessary skills and knowledge in relation to church ministry and Christian doctrines.
  • Establishing local projects to support these churches. One of the mini-projects that the ministry will focus on is empowering local agriculture by distributing free seeds to the newly converted local Christians so that they can plant, harvest, and bring their rewards back to the Church in terms of tithes and offertory. And we believe this will support the local churches financially and economically so that in the long term, they can be independent while they take part in eradicating illiteracy and chronic poverty in their communities.

DESCRIPTION OF THE CHURCH PLANTING AND VILLAGE OUTREACH MINISTRY

We are very thankful that the Lord has directed us here in Australia. Now God’s time has come to send Onesimus back to South Sudan with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is our prayers that we will receive storm of empowerment through encouragement. We believe that every single person is an object of the immeasurable love of Jesus Christ and that there is nothing impossible for the Lord.

Activities for the Church Planting and Village Outreach Ministry

Just as Jesus was anointed to minister to those who were affected by calamity, African Onesimus mission is committed to encourage and impact lives throughout the 5 states of South Sudan as we will proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ in the remote village where the name of Jesus has not been heard. We will train and equip men and women of God who are called to preach the Gospel. We will start new churches and Bible studies to equip new believers in the word. Through mini-projects at local church levels, we will distribute seeds to empower local population and increase food security ultimately leading to reduction of malnutrition and chronic poverty. Some of these new believers will ultimately return the blessings from their harvest to grow their local churches in terms of tithes and offerings.

Worship

We will preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God (Gospel of Jesus Christ the son of God) to edify the body of Christ by teaching the way of God in truth. If South Sudan is to be saved, villages are to be reached with the messages of Jesus Christ. Through African Onesimus Mission for South Sudan, we hope to bring half millions lives to Jesus Christ from witcheries, idolatry, atheism, and superstitions. Through this, we will also be reducing poverty and increasing basic literacy levels of those living in villages. It is the responsibility of African Onesimus mission for South Sudan to save these souls by touching their lives with the love of God.

Need for the Church Planting and Village Outreach Ministry in the 5 states of the Republic of South Sudan that border the Republic of Sudan:

As mentioned earlier in the brief description of South Sudan, the new nation has 10 States, 86 Counties, a population of about 9 million, about 65 tribes and dialects. The 5 states that border the Republic of Sudan have 41 counties all together and in each of these counties there are less than 3000 Christians. We plan to carryout revival and evangelistic outreach in each of these 41 counties and plant at least one church in each one of them.

We therefore welcome you to support and build African Onesimus Mission in South Sudan.

Evangelism 2As South Sudan needs gospel and spiritual blessing, African Onesimus Mission is fully committed to evangelize and plant God’s ministry in this new nation of South Sudan. However, African Onesimus Mission cannot do this alone without your support. Therefore, African Onesimus Mission for South Sudan is kindly requesting for financial support to achieve its mission of going to rescue more souls to God by planting more churches in South Sudan.

Potential partners

We will liaise with local schools in each of the counties to use one of their classrooms for regular Sunday worship for the new believers. Where local churches may exist, we will use their knowledge of the local areas and skills to access the most difficult places to take the Word of God.
